A signet was originally a seal. The face carried a family crest or an initial and was pressed into wax to sign a document, which made it a mark of who you were rather than an ornament.

Traditionally the little finger of the non-dominant hand, which is where it sat when it was still used as a seal. Plenty of people now wear one on the index or ring finger instead.
Pick the finger it fits best. A signet face sits flat, so it reads differently on every hand.
Engraved pieces are made to order in our Bali atelier and take 5 to 8 weeks from order to delivery. Each one is cut to the size you choose.
The character limit varies by piece and is shown on the product page. Because they are made for one person, engraved pieces cannot be exchanged.

Vermeil is a defined standard, not a marketing word: solid sterling silver beneath at least 2.5 microns of gold. Ours is laid at 3.5.
